| Lucas is the conductor of the Marimba Band within the Ramatea Brass
& Marimba Band. More than 9 years ago he came to Ramatea and startet
playing the trumpet in the Brass Band. He still plays the trompet in the
Brass Band. Additionally he learned to play the marimbas.
In November 2001, while the Ramatea Brass & Marimba Band was already
on tour in Germany, he had his final exams at school. After finishing the
exams he joined the band on their tour. At the end of the tour, he did
not go back to Botswana straight away but stayed with friends in Oberhausen
until end of April 2002. He went to school in Oberhausen to learn (even
more) German. And he learned to play some more instruments.
We had the joy to get an introduction to playing the marimbas by Lucas
during four weekend workshops, one being in Oberhausen and three in Holzhausen.
After his return to Botswana Lucas wanted to study the traditional african
music. He planned to travel the country and record the regional music.
We wish him all the best for this exciting task.
